Photoblast is our brand name for a UV exposure and washout process to produce stencils on Rayzist Instamask SR2000/SR3000 film.
Images are converted to true B&W, or halftone in the case of photographic examples, then printed out on 'Vellum'. The vellum is then exposed using a UV lightbox onto fine photograpic and sandblast resistant film.
The SR2000 is the traditional film, which requires a mount adhesive to be used to stick the stencil onto the substrate - The newer SR3000 is categorised as being 'self-stick', which allows the stencil to be placed on the substrate and by the burnishing and blasting process, stays in position without the need for any additional glue - There are advantages to this, as you are immediately sandcarving, rather than penetrating a layer of adhesive before touching the substrate.
